THE ROLE
FarmYield Ghana is seeking a competent, highly organised, and results-oriented Project Officer to support the day-to-day coordination and implementation of a donor-supported project in the Upper East Region.
The Project Officer will be responsible for ensuring that project activities are implemented effectively, on schedule, and in accordance with approved project plans, budgets, contractual obligations, donor requirements, and FarmYield Ghana’s internal policies.
The successful candidate will work closely with FarmYield Ghana’s management team, field staff, farmers, project partners, government institutions, community stakeholders, and other relevant actors to ensure effective project implementation, monitoring, documentation, data management, and reporting.
The role requires a strong combination of project management, field coordination, farmer engagement, stakeholder management, monitoring and evaluation, data management, reporting, and administrative skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Leadership and Coordination
- Lead the day-to-day implementation of the project in line with approved objectives, work plans, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop, update, and maintain project work plans, activity schedules, implementation trackers, and related planning tools.
- Coordinate project staff, field activities, meetings, trainings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
- Monitor project implementation against agreed targets, milestones, outputs, and deliverables.
- Identify implementation risks, operational challenges, and potential delays and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Facilitate effective coordination between FarmYield Ghana, project partners, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates to management on project progress, emerging risks, implementation challenges, and opportunities.
- Support effective allocation and use of project resources to achieve agreed results.
2. Field Implementation and Farmer Engagement
- Coordinate project activities within target communities and ensure interventions are delivered effectively to intended beneficiaries.
- Support the identification, registration, verification, and mobilisation of eligible farmers and other beneficiaries.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation and engage directly with farmers and beneficiaries.
- Coordinate farmer training sessions, demonstrations, community meetings, sensitisation activities, and other field-level interventions.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with farmers, community leaders, partners, and other project stakeholders.
- Document field activities using attendance records, photographs, beneficiary records, field reports, and other supporting evidence.
- Identify field-level challenges and escalate issues requiring management attention.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Management
- Track project indicators, outputs, outcomes, beneficiary numbers, milestones, and other agreed performance targets.
- Coordinate the collection, verification, cleaning, analysis, and reporting of project data.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date beneficiary and project databases.
- Conduct regular monitoring, verification, and field visits to assess project progress and quality of implementation.
- Identify gaps in project performance and recommend appropriate actions for improvement.
- Prepare field monitoring reports and provide relevant data and insights to support management decision-making.
- Ensure project data and supporting documentation are properly stored and readily available for reporting and verification.
4. Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare regular project progress, activity, and implementation reports for FarmYield Ghana and the donor.
- Support the preparation of quarterly, interim, and final project reports.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organised project files and documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities, including reports, attendance records, photographs, beneficiary records, training materials, and other supporting evidence.
- Prepare meeting minutes, field reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other project-related documents.
- Ensure that project activities and results are adequately documented, verifiable, and aligned with reporting requirements.
- Support the preparation of presentations and other materials required for internal and external project engagements.
5. Donor Compliance and Stakeholder Management
- Ensure project implementation complies with the donor agreement, approved project plan, applicable donor requirements, and FarmYield Ghana’s policies and procedures.
- Support donor monitoring missions, project reviews, evaluations, audits, and verification exercises.
- Ensure that donor visibility, branding, communication, and documentation requirements are appropriately implemented.
- Maintain all documentation required for donor monitoring, verification, reporting, and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with project partners and stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Promptly report significant operational, financial, safeguarding, compliance, or implementation concerns to management.
- Promote transparency, accountability, professionalism, and responsible stewardship of project resources.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, Rural Development, or a related discipline.
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, project implementation, development programmes, agriculture, rural development, NGO, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating donor-funded projects.
- Experience working with donor agencies or international development organisations will be an advantage.
- Experience working directly with smallholder farmers, rural communities, agricultural programmes, or development initiatives is desirable.
- Professional training or certification in Project Management will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders within defined timelines and budgets.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge and practical experience with digital data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar platforms will be an advantage.
- Ability and willingness to undertake frequent travel to project locations and target communities.
- Commitment to working with farmers and rural communities in a professional, respectful, and inclusive manner.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The successful candidate will be employed directly by FarmYield Ghana.
FarmYield Ghana is a registered organisation in Ghana and the successful candidate will therefore be engaged as a local hire.
Compensation and benefits will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and compensation history.
The salary will be paid in Ghanaian Cedis (GHS).
