Job Description

Role Summary

AkoFresh is seeking a proactive and organised Project Officer to support the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of its projects and programmes. The Project Officer will work across management, technical teams, field personnel, partners, farmers, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure that project activities are properly planned, delivered on time and documented.

The role is suited to someone who can move comfortably between desk-based project coordination and field implementation. The successful candidate should be able to take ownership of assigned tasks, follow up with people, keep project documentation organised and identify issues before they become major problems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Coordination

  • Support the development of project workplans, activity schedules, budgets and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate project activities across AkoFresh teams and external partners.
  • Track deliverables, deadlines, responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Follow up with team members and partners to ensure agreed actions are completed.
  • Organise project meetings, prepare agendas and document minutes and action points.
  • Maintain project trackers and provide regular updates to management.

2. Project Implementation

  • Support the implementation of agricultural, post-harvest, cold-chain, climate and innovation projects.
  • Coordinate field activities including demonstrations, surveys and site activities.
  • Support procurement, logistics and other administrative requirements necessary for project delivery.
  • Travel to project sites and partner locations when required.

3. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Collect and organise project activity and output data.
  • Prepare activity reports, progress reports and other donor/project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, attendance, photographs, expenses, outputs and supporting documents.
  • Ensure that project documentation is properly organised and easily retrievable.
  • Support the preparation of presentations and updates for management, partners and donors.

4. Stakeholder & Partnership Coordination

  • Serve as a point of contact for assigned project partners and stakeholders.
  • Support communication with NGOs, development organisations, government agencies, researchers, farmers, private-sector partners and other project actors.
  • Follow up on partner requests, information requirements and agreed actions.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of workshops, meetings, trainings and stakeholder engagements.

5. Business Development Support

  • Support market and value-chain assessments.
  • Assist with concept notes, proposals, presentations and other business development materials.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned and opportunities for improving AkoFresh’s projects and products.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • A postgraduate qualification or professional training in project management or a related area is an advantage.

Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in project coordination, programme implementation

Technical & Professional Skills

The candidate should be able to:

  • Develop and maintain project workplans and trackers.
  • Prepare clear reports, presentations and project documentation.
  • Collect, organise and analyse basic project data.
  • Use Microsoft Office/Google Workspace confidently, particularly Excel/Google Sheets, Word/Docs and PowerPoint/Slides.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Conduct basic research and synthesise information into useful outputs.
  • Communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work independently without requiring constant supervision.
