Job Description

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum 5 years trading knowledge of fixed income and foreign exchange products.
  • Minimum ACI Certification. Any other related certification an added advantage
  • Willingness to take measured risks.
  • Proficiency for evaluating market conditions & responding quickly, proactively and positively.
  • Good knowledge of foreign exchange guidelines, banking practices & local banking system
  • Good analytical & decision-making skills.
  • Ability to market & establish new relationships.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Customer Management

  • Responsibility for the development, preparation, implementation and delivery of Trading strategic plan, working in close liaison with Director, Markets
  • Identification of customer opportunities, in both FX and FI markets and grow the bank’s market share through growth of a robust and active trading counterparty list.
  • Coordination of interbank trading relationships, corporate investors and issuers.
  • External communication on trading related issues with Bank of Ghana, Ghana Stock Exchange and others as authorized.
  • Identification of competitive threats and market opportunities, to feed into the Bank’s Trading strategy.
  • Contribute to build and manage strategic partnerships with Financial Institutional clients as the bank seeks to grow its FI distribution business in Ghana.
  • Work with Financial Markets Sales, to drive the growth of the bank’s FI sales business via increased wallet share of existing relationship, customer base expansion/new client acquisition, and driving the onboarding of new clients in the relevant segment.
  • Manage relationships (internal/external) with Portfolio managers and other relevant officials of target clients in various FI sales client segments in a bid to meet client needs.
  • Grow and manage relationships with offshore GHS Portfolio investors.
  • Ensure that the bank’s policies and relevant credit limits are always adhered to.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in ensuring the preparation and appropriate circulation of suitable market updates.
  • Closing new to market FI and FX deals
  • Develop and roll out new FI products and undertake market development activities. 

Financial Management

  • Fixed Income and FX Trading budget responsibility. 

Corporate Governance

  • AML and client appropriateness – To ensure the business meets its obligations on the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy and Standards and under local laws and regulations.
  • Good relationship with regulators with ability to contribute & where possible influence policy formulation. Keep abreast of all the changes in the global environment and give the regulators a good feel of our strategy & what we’re trying to achieve.
  • To ensure adherence to proper conduct and professional behavior and adherence to relevant market codes of conduct for traders.

Risk Management

  • Implementation of Risk & Control systems and processes (including compliance)
  • Implementation of Trading & Revenue strategies within the confines of the approved Risk & Management limits
  • Close Management of PV01 and NOP limits for maximum profitability
