Job Description
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the LPG Gas Refill Plant ensuring efficient and safe processes from product receipt to order fulfillment.
This role involves direct supervision of plant personnel, adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance of equipment, and strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. The supervisor will play a crucial role in maintaining operational capacity, minimizing downtime, and fostering a strong safety culture among all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
I. Plant Operations & Management:
Operate the filling machines and other machines/equipment at the LPG filling Plants in more than one process area, with mandatory full compliance to operational safety procedures and dress code i.e., PPE like uniform, safety shoes, hand gloves, ear plugs, masks, hard hats etc., and supporting effective coordination of activities between the areas to achieve production
Supervise and coordinate all daily plant activities, including truck loading targets and offloading, cylinder filling, and inventory management, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to company SOPs.
Monitor refilling plant operations and periodically report on technical performance, including inventory statistics, inventory losses, and equipment maintenance history.
Perform routine LPG cylinder checks to ensure cylinders are in good condition during the different stages of filling operations and also checkwhether all filled cylinders are free of leaks and the valves duly sealed.
. The weight of each filled cylinders shall be checked and ensure that there is/are no leak/s in cylinders during & after LPG filling operation. In case cylinders are overfilled and under filled, shall do weight correction, cylinders evacuation of cylinders, valve removal/fixing of new valves & purging of
Check cylinder (O-Ring testing, inspection of valves, visual inspection checks) and do segregation and removal of date expired / unfit cylinders from service pre-filling. Shall also do cylinders foot-ring straightening, manual handling of cylinders, operating of palletizers, monitoring & operation of chain conveyor system.
. Arrange / maintain on hand availability of day-to-day LPG Filling plant empty cylinders and consumables.
Ensure all filling and measuring equipment is well-calibrated and dispenses accurately at all times.
Provide technical support to on-site personnel, Territory Leads, and others.
Liaise with relevant units/departments to ensure all regulatory licenses are up-to-date and valid.
Identify, analyze, and develop solutions for operational problems, displaying high levels of proactivity.
Contribute to achieving goals and targets, focusing on efficiency and cost reduction.
Il. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
Ensure strict adherence to all HSE standard regulations and guidelines in all plant operations.
Support the implementation and continuous evaluation of a robust Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) monitoring framework, incorporating statutory requirements, updated standards, and feedback.
Ensure the development, review, and implementation of Emergency Situation and Contingency Plans, monitoring compliance.
Oversee the development and implementation of waste management plans and monitor compliance.
Organize and conduct HSE Awareness training programs (e.g., toolbox meetings, pep talks) for employees, visitors, vendors, customers, neighbors, and business partners, educating them on prevention and control, occupational health, first aid, and emergency response.
Investigate all accidents and near misses, rendering timely reports with recommendations for future prevention.
Carry out regular audits of the plant and installations to ensure adherence to HSE standards of performance and the elimination of unsafe conditions and
Identify, appoint, and train Safety Marshalls for different aspects of HSE practices.
Prepare periodic HSE updates on company activities and HSE-related requirements. incidents.
Maintain the work environment clean and tidy before, during and after operations, in line with established standards of Hygiene and
III. Maintenance:
Develop, implement, and report on Preventive Maintenance schedules for all plant equipment.
Engage with vendors to ensure prompt close-out on corrective maintenance of plant equipment.
qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics and Supply, or related field. A Masters would be an added Advantage
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations management, with at least 5 years’ experience in LPG distribution, fuel logistics, or FMCG logistics.
Demonstrated hands-on experience managing last-mile distribution, fleet operations, dispatch, routing, and delivery optimization.
Strong understanding of LPG safety standards, hazardous goods regulations, and compliance requirements.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage geographically dispersed teams.
Strong analytical skills with experience monitoring operational KPIs such as OTIF (On-Time In-Full), fleet performance, and operational efficiency.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management systems is an advantage.
