Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Investment Officer to support investment activities within the mining value chain. Reporting to the Assistant Investment Manager, the successful candidate will conduct investment research, financial analysis, valuation, and due diligence on private and public sector opportunities. The role requires strong analytical capabilities and a sound understanding of mining, finance, and investment markets to support strategic investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct industry and market research on the mining and natural resources sector.
- Review regulatory filings, feasibility studies, financial reports, investor presentations, and analyst reports to identify investment opportunities.
- Support the evaluation and recommendation of investment opportunities across the mining value chain.
- Perform company valuation and financial modelling.
- Analyse financial statements, cash flow reports, and business performance.
- Conduct investment due diligence by gathering and validating financial, operational, and market information.
- Prepare investment reports, forecasts, presentations, and recommendations for management and investment committees.
- Support senior management with investment research and portfolio analysis.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in Finance, Investment, or the Mining sector.
- Master’s degree (MBA/MSc) in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related technical field is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, valuation, and investment research skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
