Job Overview
The Internal Controls and Compliance Officer will be responsible for assisting in ensuring a strong internal control environment through the review and updates of policies and procedures, coordinating risk assessments, and monitoring and follow-up on compliance.
Duties
- Assist process owners in the review, updates, and documentation of their various policies and Standard Operating Procedures in line with best practices and to mitigate risk in business operations.
- Draft policies and procedures to improve internal controls, compliance, and efficiency.
- Support the process for internal controls reviews across the entire business.
- Deliver adequate and timely reporting on internal control deficiencies, ensuring appropriate communication, documentation, and escalation to process owners and senior leadership.
- Ensure adequate and timely action plans are in place and monitor progress to address and resolve internal control deficiencies.
- Work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts that result from internal control assessments, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action.
- Coordinate risk assessment exercises and maintain a risk register for the various departments or units within the business with periodic monitoring.
- Actively engage with auditors and process owners to ensure consideration and timely resolution of all relevant risks and audit findings.
- Actively monitor and engage with internal stakeholders on new or any changes in the regulatory and statutory landscape and requirements
- Support in updating the statutory register and monitoring the compliance of same by business process owners.
Skills & Attributes Required

- Strong interview skills, strong analytical and writing skills.
- Good in data analytics and usage of IT tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
- Working knowledge of SAP ERP or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a similar area of study
- Relevant study towards professional qualification/certification such as CIA, CRMA, CA or similar areas is an added advantage.
- 3 years+ experience from a similar position, preferably in a manufacturing company.
