Job Description

To assist the Technical Manager in overseeing the maintenance, operation, and
performance of earth-moving machinery. The Assistant Technical Manager will
provide hands-on technical support, help manage equipment and resources, ensure
compliance with safety standards, and troubleshoot equipment issues to enhance
productivity and reduce downtime.
REPORT TO: Technical Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Management and Maintenance Support
Assist in developing and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance
schedules for earth-moving machinery.
Supervise and participate in the inspection, servicing, and repair of equipment to
minimize breakdowns.
Ensure machinery is operated safely and efficiently across project sites.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
Provide hands-on technical support to resolve equipment issues.
Assist in conducting root cause analysis for equipment failures and support
corrective action implementation.
Collaborate with project teams on machinery selection and deployment.
Team Support and Capacity Building
Support the supervision and coordination of technicians, operators, and mechanics.
Participate in technical training sessions and mentorship to enhance team
competencies.

Assist in evaluating staff performance and identifying training needs.
Inventory and Spare Parts Management
Help monitor the availability and management of spare parts and tools.
Liaise with the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of parts.
Track stock levels to prevent maintenance delays.


Operational Compliance and Safety
Support compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Assist in enforcing company policies and conducting periodic safety audits.
Promote a safety-first culture among operational Reporting and Documentation
Maintain accurate records of machinery servicing, breakdowns, and repairs.
Prepare technical reports and updates for management on equipment status.
Recommend improvements for equipment performance and reliability.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or
a related field.
At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in managing and maintaining heavy
duty or earth-moving machinery.
Experience in construction, mining, or dredging industry will be an added advantage.
Working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical components of
earth-moving equipment.
Familiarity with equipment diagnostic tools and maintenance management systems.
Professional certifications in engineering or machinery operations are desirable.
