Job Description

𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:

The Country Manager, Malawi, will lead Starks’ business development, regulatory positioning, and commercial expansion in Malawi.

Operating at the intersection of treasury, banking partnerships, and cross-border financial infrastructure, the role will establish and scale Starks’ presence within a high-growth Southern African corridor.

The role is responsible for driving institutional partnerships, engagement with the Reserve Bank of Malawi, liquidity access, and revenue growth, while positioning Starks as a key enabler of cross-border payments, treasury operations, and capital flows within the market.


𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with local and international banking partners.
• Oversee treasury operations including liquidity management, transaction execution, and cash optimization.
• Structure and negotiate banking facilities and settlement arrangements.
• Lead engagement with financial regulators and ensure compliance with Malawi financial regulations.
• Secure and maintain required licenses, regulatory approvals, and operational permissions.
• Monitor regulatory developments within the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) framework and implement required changes.
• Identify and onboard corporate and institutional clients across priority sectors.
• Develop and execute strategies to expand market presence and revenue growth.
• Represent the company in high-level negotiations, partnerships, and industry engagements.
• Lead and develop the Malawi office in alignment with company objectives.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial banking, investment banking, financial markets, or related sectors.
• Strong expertise in treasury operations, liquidity management, and banking infrastructure.
• Proven track record in business development and institutional relationship management.
• Strong understanding of Malawi’s banking system and regulatory environment.
• Strategic, entrepreneurial leader with strong execution capability.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required.
