Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Africa is a non-profit leadership development organization building its
presence across the African continent. SEO Africa was created to select, train, mentor and provide corporate access to
university students with the highest potential, and in the process develop a network of future leaders across Africa. Since
2013, SEO Africa has trained and placed over 1,200 students from 17+ African countries in internships in companies on 4
continents. We work with a wide range of international and in-country companies such as Goldman Sachs, Bank of
America, Genser Energy, Injaro Investments, Norfund, One Africa Markets, Rand Merchant Bank Nigeria, UAC of
Nigeria etc. to provide career opportunities to exceptional talent in Africa.
The SEO Africa team is made up of professional, passionate and collaborative go-getters with a keen interest in
leadership, talent and youth development, particularly, for young African talent. We seek to contribute to the growth and
development of the African continent through the development of socially conscious future business leaders.
We are looking to hire a Talent Development and Training Associate who carries our passion and spirit and is dedicated to
our mandate as an organization.
Overview of SEO Africa’s Talent Development & Training Team
SEO Africa’s Talent Development & Training unit is at the heart of SEO Africa’s mission of developing African talent and
is therefore central to the organization’s activities. This unit is responsible for delivering all of the training offered by SEO
Africa to our target demographics. Key functions include:
▪ Talent Attraction & Acquisition Training: This training equips current/prospective applicants with the needed
knowledge and skills that will enable them to know how to (i) conduct/market themselves during, and make the
most of, job fairs and career roadshows; and (ii) perform exceptionally well during the selection process with their
prospective employers in order to boost their chances of being selected for career opportunities. Key focus areas
include the delivery of training on interviewing, CV writing, etc using a range of resources and training delivery
techniques.
▪ Career Integration Training: This training equips all selected interns and new SEO Africa joiners with the soft
and hard skills required to enable them successfully convert their internships to full-time jobs. This corporate
training is done multiple times annually. Additionally, this unit provides other forms of support to interns and
partner companies such as (i) pairing interns with mentors; and (ii) aligning interns and partner companies on a
range of logistical, training and cultural issues.
▪ Learning App: Continuous testing of, and improvement to, SEO Africa’s AI-powered learning app features and
learning content. Continuous publishing of learning content on app and monitoring of learner engagement stats.
▪ Others: Data tracking and compilation (e.g. trainee database, attrition and conversion rates, trainee learning
development statistics), partner company engagement, etc.
Responsibilities of Talent Development & Training Associate
The responsibilities of the Talent Development Associate encompass four (4) main categories, namely (i) Talent Attraction
& Acquisition training duties; (ii) Career Integration training duties; (iii) Learning App duties and (iv) High School
training duties.
Talent Attraction & Acquisition Training Duties:
▪ Coaching SEO Africa campus volunteers on the efficient execution of their duties
▪ Drafting training schedules/timetables
▪ Coaching job applicants through the selection process i.e. CV and cover letter/essay writing, HireVue interviews,
virtual interviews etc.
▪ Drafting, updating and improving training materials e.g. documents, videos and tools
▪ Tracking success rates pertaining to applicants securing internships
▪ Engaging in any other activity/work stream to support the applicant coaching process
Career Integration Training Duties:
▪ Drafting training schedules/timetables
▪ Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate preparations for each training cycle
▪ Teaching SEO Africa interns soft and hard skill modules both virtually and in person using a variety of learning
tools
▪ Engaging SEO Africa interns, alumni and partner companies on training/internship matters
▪ Updating content of existing training modules
▪ Tracking the effectiveness of training modules through surveys and data collection
▪ Brainstorming and implementing ideas regarding how to improve the impact of training
▪ Executing mentorship pairing for SEO Africa interns
▪ Documenting observations of interns throughout each training cycle and keeping track of the attendance and
participation of each intern during training
▪ Executing relevant and ad hoc duties centered around facilitating training, providing support to interns and
engaging relevant stakeholders
Learning App Duties:
▪ Researching courses to be added to the SEO Africa Learning App
▪ Curating and publishing learning content on the app
▪ Continuous testing of all aspects of the app with a view to improving the platform
▪ Tracking learner patterns and user engagement in the app
▪ Collaborating with the Marketing and Communications team to promote programmes and courses in the app
High School Learning Duties:
▪ Establishing and building relationships with high schools
▪ Researching the learning needs of high school students and engaging relevant focus groups
▪ Recommending and implementing solutions to high school learning gaps

Required Experience and Education
▪ 4 – 6 years of work experience in a private organization
▪ A bachelor’s degree in any field (strong preference for a degree in Human Resources)
▪ Prior experience in teaching, talent acquisition or talent development
