Job Description
Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is a multi-pit mining complex located on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, operating a
5.5Mtpa processing plant with expansion potential. The mine is owned by Galiano Gold Inc., a dual-listed
(NYSE & TSX) mining company focused on responsible exploration, development, and operations.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced Senior Training Officer to join the People & Organizational Development
Unit within the Organizational Capability Department.
The successful candidate will coordinate training and competency-development activities, strengthen
workforce capability, and support career development, succession planning and organizational performance.
The role will also help ensure that training and competency practices comply with applicable regulatory
requirements, internal policies and business standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct training-needs analyses and competency-gap assessments and recommend appropriate
development interventions. - Develop, review and standardize training materials, learning modules and assessment tools.
- Coordinate technical, practical and other workforce-development programmes and monitor the
application of learning in the workplace. - Conduct and quality-assure competency assessments and recommend further development where
required. - Maintain accurate training records, competency databases and assessment documentation.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements to programme content, delivery and
outcomes. - Provide guidance and coordination to Training Officers, workplace trainers, assessors and other
training personnel. - Support succession planning, career development, high-potential employee and labour-pool
development programmes. - Prepare training and competency reports and track programme outcomes and agreed actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable training and competency requirements, statutory obligations and
internal policies. - Guide supervisors and Business Partners on training compliance and good practice.
- Support regulatory reporting and readiness for internal and external audits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Learning and Development, Education,
Industrial Psychology or a related discipline from a recognized institution. - A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in learning and development, training coordination or
competency development, preferably within the mining or a similar operational environment. - A professional certification in Human Resources, Training and Development or a related field, such
as CIPD or ATD, will be an advantage. - Workplace Trainer and Assessor Certification
- Health, Safety and Environment Officer Certification recognized by the Minerals Commission is
required. - A valid Ghanaian driving licence and demonstrated ability to drive a light vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Good knowledge of learning and development systems, competency-based training and assessment
practices. - Strong facilitation, coaching and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and practically.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure, production-driven environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tight schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in multicultural and shift-based
environments. - A collaborative, proactive and safety-focused approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
