About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer will lead the organization’s overall financial strategy, planning, governance, and performance management. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, taxation, risk management, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and investor relations.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will provide strategic financial insight to support business expansion, product innovation, capital management, and operational excellence while ensuring the organization maintains strong financial discipline and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company’s long-term financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Serve as the principal financial advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive leadership team.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on investments, business growth initiatives, capital allocation, and financial sustainability.
  • Establish financial objectives and monitor organizational performance against strategic targets.
  • Drive financial excellence to support business scalability and profitability.

Financial Planning & Performance Management

  • Lead the organization’s annual budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Develop robust financial forecasts, business models, and long-term financial projections.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and analyze budget variances.
  • Provide financial insights that support informed business decisions and investment opportunities.
  • Evaluate the financial viability of new products, expansion initiatives, and strategic projects.

Financial Reporting & Business Analysis

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial reports and performance analysis to executive management and the Board.
  • Monitor organizational performance through key financial metrics including revenue, profitability, operating costs, cash flow, and working capital.
  • Ensure timely preparation of management accounts and statutory reports.
  • Drive continuous improvements in financial reporting processes and business intelligence.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

  • Lead the company’s treasury operations and liquidity management.
  • Develop strategies to optimize cash flow and working capital.
  • Oversee banking relationships, cash management, receivables, payables, and payment operations.
  • Ensure sufficient financial resources are available to support operational and strategic priorities.

Accounting & Financial Controls

  • Provide leadership for all accounting operations and financial record management.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal control systems and financial governance frameworks.
  • Strengthen financial processes to improve accuracy, accountability, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify financial risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Implement measures to prevent fraud and safeguard company assets.

Regulatory Compliance & Tax Management

  • Ensure full compliance with Ghanaian financial regulations, accounting standards, and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee all corporate tax requirements including PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax, Corporate Tax, and SSNIT compliance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits while ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation to support regulatory reporting and compliance.

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks across the business.
  • Develop effective financial risk management strategies and internal policies.
  • Monitor liquidity, market, operational, and credit risks.
  • Strengthen governance frameworks that support sustainable business growth.

Fintech Business Performance

  • Provide financial oversight for fintech products, digital platforms, and strategic partnerships.
  • Analyze product profitability and business unit performance.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies, investment opportunities, and revenue optimization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Finance team.
  • Establish measurable performance objectives and KPIs for finance personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective segregation of duties and adherence to financial governance standards.

Stakeholder & Investor Relations

  • Prepare executive financial presentations for the Board of Directors and senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, investors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, investor due diligence processes, and strategic financing activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ICA Ghana, CFA, or an equivalent internationally recognized certification.
  • An MBA, MSc Finance, or other relevant postgraduate qualification will be a significant advantage.

Professional Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial management.
  • At least 3–5 years in a senior finance leadership position such as Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Finance Director, or Chief Financial Officer.
  • Experience within FinTech, Banking, Financial Services, Technology, or Digital Payments industries is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ghanaian accounting standards, taxation, financial regulations, and corporate governance.
  • Practical experience with ERP systems, financial management software, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
