Role Description

The Operations  Manager is responsible for the overall management and execution of the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that the business achieves its strategic objectives. The role oversees customer acquisition operations, artisans, contractors and contractors onboarding, sales management, business development support, technology coordination, customer service, quality assurance, process improvement of the digital platform and excellent customer experience.

The role requires an entrepreneurial, commercially driven and highly organized professional capable of building systems, processes and teams within a fast-growing technology startup.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operations Management

· Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company objectives.

· Build scalable operational processes for sustainable business growth.

· Oversee daily operations of the online marketplace.

· Develop and monitor operational policies, SOPs and service standards.

· Improve operational efficiency through automation and process optimization.

· Ensure seamless onboarding and engagement of artisans, contractors, suppliers, buyers and all stakeholders.

· Establish service quality standards and monitor compliance.

2. Sales Leadership

· Recruit, train and supervise Sales Executives.

· Develop sales territories and market coverage plans.

· Set monthly and annual sales targets.

· Monitor individual and team performance.

· Coach underperforming sales personnel.

· Review sales reports and implement corrective actions.

· Build strategic partnerships with developers, construction firms, real estate companies, hardware dealers and industry stakeholders.

3. Technology Team Coordination

· Serve as the business lead between management and the Technology Team by:

· Translating business requirements into technical specifications.

· Prioritizing system enhancements.

· Monitoring software development timelines.

· Coordinating product releases.

· Testing new features before deployment.

· Ensuring bugs are resolved promptly.

· Supporting mobile application improvements.

· Monitoring platform uptime and reliability.

· Working closely with developers, UI/UX designers and product teams.

4. Customer Experience Management

· Develop excellent customer service standards.

· Resolve escalated customer complaints.

· Improve customer satisfaction ratings.

· Monitor response times.

· Ensure effective dispute resolution between customers and service providers.

· Develop customer retention initiatives.

· Conduct customer satisfaction surveys.

5. Vendor Management

· Recruit and verify qualified artisans and subcontractors.

· Ensure proper documentation and verification.

· Maintain vendor quality standards.

· Monitor service delivery performance.

· Resolve vendor-related issues.

· Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews.

· Develop vendor engagement programmes.

6. Marketing &  Business Development Support

· Collaborate with the marketing team to:

· Launch promotional campaigns.

· Develop strategic partnerships.

· Increase market penetration.

· Drive customer acquisition.

· Generate business leads.

7. Financial & Commercial Management

· Prepare annual operational budgets.

· Monitor departmental expenditure.

· Improve operational profitability.

· Monitor revenue generation.

· Prepare operational forecasts.

· Control operating costs.

· Support pricing strategies.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Marketing, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.

· MBA or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

· Project Management certification is desirable.

· Minimum of 5–8 years’ progressive experience in operations management.

· Experience in a technology startup, marketplace platform, e-commerce or digital business.

· Experience coordinating software or technology development projects.
