Import Logistics & Clearing Manager – Nesstra Ghana Ltd.

Job Description

Ashfoam is seeking an experienced and results-driven Import Logistics & Clearing Manager to lead its international shipping, customs clearance and cargo delivery operations.

The successful candidate will manage the complete import process, from shipment planning and document verification to customs clearance, port handling and final delivery. The role will also focus on regulatory compliance, logistics cost control and the prevention of demurrage, detention and storage charges.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage sea, air and overland shipments from the point of origin to final delivery.
• Review Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and other shipping documents.
• Oversee the end-to-end customs clearance process.
• Ensure accurate HS code classification and assessment of duties, taxes, tariffs and levies.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, clearing agents, customs officials and port authorities.
• Monitor vessel arrivals and clearance timelines to minimise demurrage, detention and storage costs.
• Manage cargo inspections, releases, terminal transfers, haulage and warehouse delivery.
• Review and approve invoices from clearing agents, shipping lines, haulage contractors and terminal operators.
• Monitor clearing-agent performance and report on landed costs, clearance lead times, duty payments and port-related expenses.
Candidate Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field.
• At least 10 years’ experience in international logistics and import clearance management.
• Demonstrated experience handling high-volume sea freight.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian customs regulations, tariff structures, import valuation and port procedures.
• Practical experience using ICUMS or similar customs clearance systems.
• Proficiency in Tally Prime will be an advantage.
• Strong negotiation, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing shipping and customs documentation.
