Position Summary

The Electrical & Automation Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems across the production facility. The successful candidate will support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshoot electrical and automation faults, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at maximizing equipment reliability and production efficiency.

Reporting directly to the Electrical & Automation Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining manufacturing excellence while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical distribution systems.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to support maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and company procedures.

Automation & Instrumentation

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-controlled production systems.
  • Program and modify PLC logic (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and related programming languages) where necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain SCADA systems to ensure reliable process control.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain industrial sensors, actuators, transmitters, and instrumentation devices.
  • Troubleshoot communication networks between automation devices and production equipment.
  • Support automation upgrades and system improvements.

Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up of new production lines and machinery.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend sustainable corrective solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and equipment reliability.
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns and implement preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and technical documentation.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices during maintenance operations.
  • Participate in safety audits and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or Electrical & Automation Engineering.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in electrical maintenance, industrial automation, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of industrial equipment or production lines.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and manufacturing processes.

Technical Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial electrical and automation systems.
  • Sound knowledge of Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, including Ladder Logic and Structured Text.
  • Experience working with SCADA systems and industrial automation platforms.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, including calibration and maintenance of sensors, actuators, transmitters, and other process control devices.
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Good understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices.
