Purpose of the Role
To operate and monitor utilities equipment—including generators, steam and refrigeration systems, CO2
plant, water supply, and compressed air systems, ensuring continuous and efficient utility supply to all user
areas. The role also involves performing first-line maintenance, quality control checks, and accurate
logging in accordance with Standard Process and Work Instructions to support safe and reliable plant
operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Champion a strong safety culture by adhering to all health and safety standards, challenging
unsafe practices, and consistently modelling safe behaviors. - Comply with all Food Safety and Quality Management System requirements to ensure safe and
high-quality product output. - Operate, clean, and maintain assigned utilities equipment to ensure continuous and efficient plant
performance. - Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules to maximize equipment availability
and operational efficiency. - Monitor, record, and report key equipment parameters such as temperature, pressure, current,
and voltage to ensure optimal performance. - Maintain adequate water storage levels to meet brewery operational requirements.
- Manage and account for materials, components, and spare parts used in utilities operations.
- Provide support during equipment breakdowns and collaborate with colleagues to resolve
technical issues efficiently. - Engage in continuous training and development; support the upskilling of team members and
foster collaborative working relationships. - Work closely with the Utilities Engineer to achieve production targets and service level
agreements. - Complete and review required operational reports, including checklists, condition monitoring
sheets, and system status updates.
Key Requirements – Qualifications, Experience, Skills etc.
- Minimum of HND/ MET III or EET III (Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering) or its
equivalent. - Relevant certification in industrial utilities operation is an added advantage.
- 1-3 years’ experience in utilities operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Exposure to equipment such as boilers, compressors, refrigeration, CO2, and water treatment
plants is preferred. - Working knowledge of utility systems and basic maintenance procedures.
- Ability to interpret and follow operational and safety procedures
- Attention to detail with strong monitoring and reporting skills.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong sense of responsibility and willingness to work in shifts
