The Embassy of Denmark in Ghana invites applications from qualified, proactive, and results-oriented professionals for the position of Communication and Cultural Officer. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, high integrity, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multicultural environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the Embassy’s public diplomacy agenda by strengthening Denmark’s visibility, fostering cultural exchanges, and supporting strategic communication initiatives across Ghana and the Embassy’s side-accredited countries.

Position Overview

The Communication and Cultural Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, coordinating cultural and public diplomacy initiatives, managing digital communication platforms, and promoting Danish priorities, partnerships, and activities through effective storytelling and stakeholder engagement.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic international environment and contribute to strengthening diplomatic and cultural relations between Denmark and Ghana.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Communication and Public Diplomacy

  • Develop and implement strategic communication initiatives to enhance Denmark’s visibility and engagement in Ghana and the region.
  • Produce high-quality communication materials, including:
    • Articles
    • Speeches
    • Press releases
    • Presentations
    • Digital and visual communication content
  • Manage and update the Embassy’s communication platforms, including:
    • Social media channels
    • Website content
    • Digital communication tools
  • Develop compelling stories and content that effectively communicate Danish priorities, partnerships, and activities to diverse audiences.

Cultural Affairs and Event Management

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of cultural and public diplomacy activities, including:
    • High-level official visits
    • Conferences and seminars
    • Networking events
    • Cultural exhibitions
    • Public engagement initiatives
  • Manage and coordinate projects related to:
    • Music
    • Performing arts
    • Literature
    • Exhibitions
    • Other cultural exchange activities
  • Support initiatives aimed at strengthening Denmark’s cultural profile and diplomatic relationships within the region.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with:
    • Journalists and media professionals
    • Communication specialists
    • Cultural attachés
    • Embassies and diplomatic missions
    • International organizations
    • Cultural institutions and partners
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of communication and cultural activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in:
    • Communications
    • Journalism
    • Event Management
    • Public Relations
    • International Relations
    • Or a related field.
  • Proven experience in organizing and managing high-level events, campaigns, and public engagement activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in French will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong storytelling, presentation, and communication abilities across multiple platforms and audiences.
  • Demonstrated creativity, cultural awareness, and interest in international affairs.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • A willingness to learn, grow professionally, and share knowledge within a team environment.
  • Experience working within:
    • Embassies
    • International organizations
    • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
    • Multicultural environments
      will be considered a strong advantage.

Terms of Employment

The Embassy offers attractive employment conditions, including:

  • Full-time employment (40 hours per week) or part-time employment under local terms and conditions.
  • Five (5) weeks of paid annual leave.
  • Flexible work arrangements.
  • A mutual probationary period of three (3) months.
