Job Purpose

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring logistics and transportation activities while ensuring the efficient management of the company’s fleet. The role involves optimizing vehicle utilization, coordinating deliveries, maintaining fleet records, managing vehicle maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management

  • Manage and monitor the company’s fleet of vehicles to ensure optimal utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate vehicle allocation and scheduling to support business activities.
  • Track vehicle movements and monitor fleet performance.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to established schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, servicing, fuel consumption, insurance, and licensing.
  • Monitor driver performance and ensure compliance with company policies and road safety regulations.
  • Investigate vehicle incidents and recommend corrective measures.

Logistics Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate transportation and delivery activities to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Liaise with suppliers, service providers, drivers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and ensure the timely movement of goods, equipment, and materials.
  • Address logistics challenges and implement effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Optimize transportation routes and logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate logistics and fleet management records.
  • Prepare regular reports on fleet utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and logistics performance.
  • Support audits and inspections relating to logistics and fleet operations.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with external vendors, maintenance providers, and logistics partners.
  • Negotiate service arrangements and monitor vendor performance.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience in logistics, transportation, or fleet management.
  • Proven experience managing vehicle fleets and coordinating transportation operations.
  • Experience working in a corporate, consulting, logistics, construction, manufacturing, or service-oriented environment will be an advantage.
