Summary

The Head of Investment Banking provides strategic leadership and commercial direction for Temple’s Investment Banking business, with overall accountability for revenue growth, transaction origination and execution, client relationship management, and market development. The role is responsible for identifying and converting business opportunities, leading the successful execution of complex advisory and capital markets transactions, and strengthening Temple’s position as a leading investment banking firm in Ghana and the broader sub-region.

As the senior lead for investment banking engagements, the Head of Investment Banking serves as a trusted advisor to corporate, institutional, and sovereign clients, while working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver innovative financing and strategic advisory solutions that drive client and organizational success.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned and commercially driven Head of Investment Banking to provide strategic leadership across Temple’s investment banking business, with full accountability for revenue growth, transaction origination, and strategy. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor to corporate, institutional, and sovereign clients, with a strong track record of originating and executing complex capital markets and advisory transactions across Ghana and the broader Sub-Saharan Africa region.

This role demands the ability to identify and convert high-value mandates, lead multidisciplinary transaction teams from origination through to close, and develop innovative financing solutions that address the evolving needs of Temple’s clients. The Head of Investment Banking will combine deep technical expertise with strategic commercial instincts, playing a central role in cementing Temple’s position as a leading investment banking firm in Ghana. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Investment Banking business strategy, driving revenue growth, market share, and sustainable business expansion while identifying emerging opportunities across Ghana’s capital markets ecosystem.
  • Originate, structure, and lead the execution of complex transactions including IPOs, bond issuances, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, project finance, and corporate restructuring mandates.
  • Build and deepen relationships with corporate, institutional, sovereign, and development finance clients, positioning Temple as a trusted advisor and preferred transaction partner.
  • Lead transaction teams through all stages of deal execution, ensuring timely delivery, regulatory compliance, and achievement of client objectives, while overseeing the quality of financial models, valuation analyses, and deal documentation.
  • Mentor and develop investment banking professionals, fostering a high-performance culture, setting clear expectations, and supporting continuous learning and career growth across the team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s and master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or a related field, supported by a professional qualification such as CFA, ACCA, CISI, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, capital markets, or financial advisory, with at least 7 years in a senior transaction leadership or business development role.
  • Demonstrated track record of originating, leading, and successfully closing complex capital markets, M&A, structured finance, or debt transactions in Ghana and/or Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Strong understanding of Ghana’s capital markets regulatory environment, including SEC Ghana and GSE requirements, with established relationships across the financial market ecosystem.
  • Excellent transaction structuring and negotiation skills, combined with strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes mandates simultaneously.
