Position Summary
The Technician will play a key role in supporting the organization’s technical infrastructure by monitoring and servicing equipment, identifying faults, conducting repairs, performing system tests, and implementing preventive maintenance measures. The role requires strong technical aptitude, analytical thinking, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
- Inspect, monitor, and maintain systems, equipment, and technical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct routine maintenance activities and preventive servicing to minimize downtime.
- Identify potential technical issues before they escalate into major problems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose technical faults and equipment malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-related issues efficiently.
- Repair or replace defective components and equipment as required.
- Test repaired systems and equipment to verify functionality and performance.
Technical Support & System Improvement
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of systems and equipment.
- Support ongoing improvements to existing systems and technical processes.
- Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and other technical professionals to resolve complex issues.
- Provide technical recommendations aimed at improving system reliability and operational efficiency.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed service reports, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain records of repairs, equipment status, and technical activities.
- Develop and update preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Document technical findings and recommendations for management review.
Parts Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Identify and source replacement parts and technical materials.
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers regarding equipment and technical requirements.
- Obtain quotations and support procurement activities where necessary.
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and maintenance materials.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with company policies, technical standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Follow established safety procedures when handling equipment and performing repairs.
- Promote safe work practices and report potential hazards.
- Participate in safety training and continuous professional development initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Certificate (SHS/WASSCE).
- Technical certification, diploma, vocational training, or a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Previous experience as a Technician or in a related technical role is desirable.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Strong understanding of technical systems, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting processes.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and information technology infrastructure.
