Peniel Academy is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and results-oriented professional to join our leadership team as Head of Operations. Role Purpose
The Head of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership for the school’s administrative and support functions. The role is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of daily operations, facilities, procurement, logistics, health and safety, compliance, and resource utilization to support the effective delivery of academic programs.
The successful candidate will work closely with academic and administrative teams to ensure that operational systems, policies, and processes contribute to a safe, efficient, and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures that support the school’s mission and objectives.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the institution to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor operational performance and recommend initiatives to improve service delivery and organizational productivity.
- Ensure operational activities align with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
Administration and Facilities Management
- Oversee the management and maintenance of school facilities, equipment, and physical infrastructure.
- Ensure that classrooms, offices, recreational areas, and other facilities are safe, functional, and conducive to learning.
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance schedules, and facility improvement projects.
- Supervise outsourced service providers and contractors where applicable.
Procurement and Resource Management
- Manage procurement processes to ensure value for money and compliance with organizational policies.
- Oversee inventory management and ensure adequate availability of teaching and operational resources.
- Monitor supplier relationships and negotiate contracts where necessary.
- Ensure effective utilization and safeguarding of school assets.
Financial and Budgetary Support
- Support the development and monitoring of operational budgets.
- Ensure prudent management of operational expenditures and resources.
- Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare operational reports and performance updates for management review.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant educational, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement workplace health and safety procedures.
- Coordinate risk management activities and emergency preparedness plans.
- Promote a safe and secure environment for learners, staff, parents, and visitors.
Human Resource Support
- Collaborate with management on staff welfare, performance management, and operational workforce planning.
- Support employee onboarding, orientation, and compliance processes.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Address operational concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support school events, programs, and community engagement initiatives.
Reporting and Performance Management
- Prepare periodic operational reports, performance analyses, and recommendations for management.
- Develop and monitor operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, Education Management, Human Resource Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s Degree or relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in operations, administration, or institutional management.
- Previous leadership or management experience within an educational institution is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in managing operational processes, facilities, resources, and administrative functions.
