About Tamale Development Trust (TDT)
Tamale Development Trust (TDT) is a women-led community foundation based in Tamale, Ghana. The organization serves the Tamale Metropolitan Area and Sagnarigu Municipality, which together have a population of over 716,000 residents.
TDT is a nonprofit organization registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Ghana Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and licensed by the Nonprofit Organizations Secretariat of the Department of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Founded in November 2022 and operational since July 2023, TDT focuses on promoting local philanthropy by mobilizing community resources and leveraging grants to improve the quality of life for residents of Tamale.
As a start-up nonprofit organization, TDT is currently managed by its local founding donor Board Members and is seeking dedicated individuals to support its growth and development.
Position Overview
Tamale Development Trust is seeking a passionate and committed Volunteer Executive Director (Female) to join its Management Team and support the day-to-day management of the organization.
This is a volunteer leadership position during the organization’s early growth stage, until the Trust becomes financially stable to provide salaried roles.
The Executive Director will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s fundraising capacity, building donor relationships, and advancing community development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to grow the community endowment fund of Tamale Development Trust.
- Facilitate the establishment of designated or field-of-interest funds with local philanthropists.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of local donors to support the sustainability of the organization.
- Support the strategic development and operational management of the Trust.
- Strengthen relationships with community stakeholders, partners, and donors.
- Promote TDT’s mission of local philanthropy and community-driven development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in nonprofit leadership, community development, or related work.
- Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Willingness to learn and apply innovative approaches in philanthropy and community grant-making.
