About Tamale Development Trust (TDT)

Tamale Development Trust (TDT) is a women-led community foundation based in Tamale, Ghana, serving the Tamale Metropolitan Area and Sagnarigu Municipality (combined population ~716,455).

TDT is a nonprofit organization registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Ghana Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and licensed by the Nonprofit Organizations Secretariat of the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Since incorporation in November 2022 and operational launch in July 2023, TDT has focused on promoting local philanthropy, mobilizing resources, and leveraging donated grants to strengthen community development in Tamale.

As a start-up nonprofit, TDT is seeking committed individuals to join its Management Team on a volunteer basis, supporting day-to-day operations until the Trust can offer paid positions.

Position Overview

The Communications & Grant Support Officer (Volunteer) will manage TDT’s communications and visibility, support grant research and proposal development, and document the impact of the organization’s initiatives. The role will help strengthen TDT’s outreach, storytelling, and resource mobilization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and enhance TDT’s communications and visibility across channels.
  • Develop compelling content for social media, newsletters, and organizational reports.
  • Support grant research, proposal writing, and donor engagement activities.
  • Document and share stories of TDT’s impact to stakeholders and the wider community.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure messaging aligns with organizational goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience in grant writing is an advantage.
