Position: Treasury Manager

Location: Corporate Office, Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana

Report Directly to: VP of Finance

Subordinate: Senior P2P Associate (1), P2P Associate (1)

OBJECTIVE: The Treasury Manager will be responsible for leading our procure-to-pay process with a strong emphasis on optimizing cash flow, treasury management (liquidity, investments, risk management strategies), automation, and trade finance operations. This role will be crucial in ensuring financial stability and operational efficiency by managing liquidity, streamlining systems, and mitigating financial risks across local and international transactions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROCURE-TO-PAY

  • Process Management: Oversee the end-to-end procure-to-pay process, including purchase requisition, purchase order creation, invoice processing, and payment.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support policy development and compliance frameworks related to procurement and payment operations.
  • Treasury & Cash Management: Monitor daily cash positions and manage cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  • Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize working capital.
  • Optimize working capital and liquidity through effective treasury strategies and cash pooling where applicable.
  • Trade Finance Management: Lead and manage all trade finance activities, including the issuance and management of Advance Payment Bonds, Letters of Credit (LCs), and Bank Guarantees.
  • Liaise with banks, suppliers, and international stakeholders to ensure timely issuance, amendments, and settlements of LCs
  • Ensuring documentation for trade transactions complies with international standards.
  • Evaluate trade finance options to support procurement and project financing, balancing cost and risk exposure.
  • Automation and System Upgrades: Lead initiatives to automate and upgrade the procure-to-pay process, including the implementation of e-procurement tools and electronic invoicing systems.
  • Work closely with IT and external vendors to ensure successful system integration and upgrades.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks, including interest rate, foreign exchange, and credit risks.
  • Establish internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Lead initiatives to reduce fraud, payment errors, and inefficiencies
  • Banking Relationships: Maintain and develop relationships with banks and financial institutions to ensure competitive rates and services.
  • Negotiate competitive banking terms, fees, and service levels to support treasury and optimize financial operations.
  • Ensure smooth execution of financial transactions and resolve escalated issues with bank and vendors
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze treasury-related financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, external regulations, and audit requirements.

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Supervise the team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget.
  • Develop and implement necessary measures to ensure flexible work practices and team building.
  • Carry out performance appraisals and development plans (including training) with subordinate staff.
  • Implement training and development program for staff in line with technical and business needs.
  • Coordinate the rotational schedule (on and off duty) of subordinate staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is mandatory.
  • Multicultural experience is mandatory.
  • Professional Financial Qualification (ACA, CA, CPA, CIMA) is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Treasury Manager or in a similar finance role preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry, Banking industry or International Company.
  • A strong understanding of cash management, investment strategies, and risk management.
  • Proficient in treasury management systems and financial software (e.g., Sage X3, SAP, Oracle, Kyriba).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on compliance and risk management.
  • Proficiency in French is a plus.
