Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The role is responsible for ensuring proper configuration, maintenance, and support of card systems and all issuing products (Credit/Debit cards) as well as related Ecobank card products across the Group.
JOB CONTEXT
Control Assurance
• Ensure system access is safeguarded and passwords are updated in line with policy.
• Continuously review system exceptions and resolve them promptly.
Compliance
• Adhere to all Ecobank Group policies and procedures.
• Submit weekly reports to the Unit Head, Payment Systems.
• Report on time for all assigned shifts.
Operational Risk
• Respond to control self-assessment questions and identify control gaps.
• Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS standards, regulatory requirements, and mandates.
Human Resources
• Maintain team backup and continuity during vacations or absences.
• Pursue professional development through internal/external training and professional memberships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Diagnose and resolve system issues or escalate to Level 3 Support; document resolutions.
• Test and certify interfaces with various protocols, issuers, and core banking hosts.
• Manage EMV compliance across the Group.
• Implement enhancements and updates from payment schemes and vendors.
• Analyze, investigate, and resolve interface-related problems.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentation materials.
• Monitor and optimize system performance to enhance customer experience.
• Report issues and propose fixes for discussion with the Department Head.
• Request system improvements and parameter updates from vendors to simplify processes, increase flexibility, and minimize fraud.
• Extract and analyze card and transaction statistics from business and operational perspectives.
• Support issuer certifications with payment schemes (Visa, MasterCard) for interfaces (Base I, SMS, CIS, MDS).
• Review and validate UAT, implementations, and system changes.
• Ensure compliance with payment schemes (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, DCI, CUP).
• Develop and monitor policies, procedures, tasks, and projects to ensure continuity and optimal team productivity.
• Provide support for Issuing systems (CMS, Postilion, Indigo) and Acquiring systems (Prime).
• Resolve all support tickets within SLA.
Qualification Required & Experience
Experience & Qualifications
• Recognized IT-related university degree (mandatory).
• Equivalent professional qualification.
Skills, Capabilities & Attributes
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in:
• Postilion-related project management.
• Application support.
• Server databases and SQL scripting (mandatory).
• Computer networks and network administration.
• General banking knowledge and card industry insight (advantageous).
• Understanding of ISO 8583 protocol.
• Extensive knowledge of international card schemes (Visa, MasterCard, etc.).
• Knowledge of cloud technologies
