Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the entire plantation operations including planning, coordination, and implementation of crop production activities from land preparation to post-harvest. Ensures productivity, sustainability, and profitability through effective resource management, adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and leadership of farm teams.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement annual and seasonal crop production plans, including land allocation, crop rotation, and input schedules.
  • Supervise and coordinate all plantation activities such as land preparation, planting, crop management, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting.
  • Monitor crop health and yield performance; diagnose issues and coordinate corrective measures.
  • Provide leadership and support to Farm Supervisors, ensuring daily activities are aligned with the plantation’s strategic goals.
  • Liaise with agronomists, extension officers, and external consultants to adopt best practices and new technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental standards, and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Manage and monitor the use of farm inputs, equipment, and machinery to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate production and operational records, including yields, inputs, labor, and equipment usage.
  • Prepare reports for senior management detailing production progress, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Plan and oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of field staff and supervisors.
  • Coordinate logistics for produce harvesting, storage, and transport to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Monitor and control plantation budgets and expenditures in line with approved financial plans.
  • Lead and support implementation of pilot projects, mechanization initiatives, and sustainability programs.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, regulatory bodies, and local communities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
