Position Overview

As a Paralegal placed through EBL Legal Placement & Performance, you will perform substantive legal work under the supervision of attorneys within a U.S.-based law firm. You will contribute directly to client matters by conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, managing case files, supporting litigation processes, and assisting attorneys in delivering exceptional legal services.

While assigned to a U.S. law firm, you will remain an employee of EBL Legal Placement & Performance and receive ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance support from the EBL team.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Research & Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, judicial opinions, and legal precedents.
  • Analyze legal issues and summarize findings for attorneys.
  • Prepare legal memoranda, reports, and case summaries.
  • Stay informed on relevant legal developments and regulatory changes.

Legal Drafting & Documentation

  • Draft legal correspondence, memoranda, motions, pleadings, affidavits, and court filings under attorney supervision.
  • Prepare and customize legal forms, templates, and procedural documents.
  • Review and proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with legal standards.
  • Assist in preparing contracts, agreements, and transactional documents where applicable.

Case Management & Litigation Support

  • Maintain, organize, and update physical and electronic case files.
  • Manage case calendars, legal deadlines, hearings, depositions, and court schedules.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, hearings, arbitrations, and mediation proceedings.
  • Coordinate the collection, review, and organization of evidence and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, witness files, and litigation materials.

Discovery Management

  • Draft and prepare discovery requests and responses.
  • Review, organize, and manage document production processes.
  • Coordinate document collection and disclosure activities.
  • Assist attorneys in analyzing discovery materials and identifying relevant evidence.

Client Communication & Case Intake

  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding case updates and information requests.
  • Conduct client intake interviews and collect relevant case information.
  • Assist attorneys in initial case evaluations and strategy discussions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions.

Administrative & Team Support

  • Manage legal records and document management systems.
  • Coordinate with legal assistants and support staff to ensure work quality and timely completion of assignments.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with court and regulatory requirements.
  • Support attorneys and legal teams with additional assignments as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, Legal Intern, Corporate Legal Officer, or Legal Support Professional.
  • Experience working in a law firm, corporate legal department, or legal services environment.
  • Exposure to U.S. legal systems, procedures, litigation processes, or documentation standards is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting international legal teams will be highly desirable.
