JOB OVERVIEW

A leading freight forwarding and logistics company with operations across multiple offices is

committed to providing efficient, innovative, and customer-focused solutions. With deep

expertise in freight forwarding, customs processes, and supply chain management, the

company continues to deliver value to its clients while driving operational excellence and

business growth. The company is seeking to hire an Operations Manager to lead its freight forwarding and logistics operations across its different offices and oversee the daily effective running of air freight and ocean freight operations, as well as supporting other business functions to ensure the smooth running of the organization. This position requires a person with practical experience in freight forwarding and customs processes, as well as pricing and tender management. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical capabilities, people management skills, and be exceedingly well-organized, flexible, and results-oriented.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategic operational plans and work with various teams to ensure the achievement of these plans and also ensure optimized productivity across the teams.
  • Improve operational effectiveness by reviewing and developing processes and policies where necessary.
  • Work with operational teams to reduce waste in the operational processes significantly
    and specifically reduce demurrage and storage payments by establishing root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Implement and drive operational excellence initiatives that will contribute to the organization’s operational excellence culture in the long term.
  • Conduct regular operational meetings with relevant teams to review the previous period’s performance and ensure the implementation of action plans to resolve any operational challenges identified and make improvements.
  • Ensure the efficient use of operational software, that all jobs are duly recorded accurately, and that clients are updated on the status of their shipment regularly or on timelines as agreed with customers.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS [KPI”S]

  • Responsible for coordinating all Request for Quotes/Information (RFQs / RFIs) and tenders, ensuring that these are responded to on time.
  • Responsible for ensuring prompt responses to all pricing requests for both air and sea.
  • Ensure effective performance management for direct reports.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge on industry standards to ensure adherence and
  • compliance with standards.
  • Work together with Sales and other teams leads to seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Strong decision-making and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to motivate and lead people, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong working knowledge of operational and customs procedures.
  • Good knowledge of different business functions.
