Job Purpose
As part of its growth and operational expansion, AGROPAL is seeking to recruit a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Technician to join its Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will support efficient plant operations by ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of mechanical equipment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the following:
- Conducting routine inspection, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment
- Responding promptly to mechanical breakdowns to minimize production downtime
- Performing preventive maintenance in line with approved maintenance schedules
- Maintaining and repairing boilers, pumps, dryers, conveyors, washing, slicing, SO₂ spraying, metal detection, and packaging machines
- Assisting with the installation, alignment, and commissioning of new machinery
- Replacing worn or damaged mechanical components, including bearings, belts, chains, seals, and shafts
- Adhering strictly to factory safety rules, mechanical safety procedures, and hygiene requirements
- Ensuring compliance with food processing standards and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs
- Working collaboratively with production, electrical, and quality assurance teams
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Trade Certificate (NVTI), Diploma, or a related mechanical field
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in mechanical or plumbing maintenance within an industrial or commercial environment
- Prior experience in food processing or manufacturing facilities will be an added advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Sound knowledge of industrial machinery and moving mechanical parts
- Ability to safely use hand tools and workshop equipment
- Understanding of preventive maintenance principles and practices
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
