Role Overview
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for ensuring maximum fleet availability and operational reliability through the effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring of preventive and corrective maintenance activities for Bulk Road Vehicles (BRVs).
The role focuses on optimizing maintenance costs, coordinating service providers, and ensuring full compliance with safety, regulatory, and OEM standards.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Values Alignment

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and implement a 12-month preventive maintenance (PM) calendar for all Bulk Road Vehicles (BRVs).
- Schedule maintenance activities to minimize disruption to haulage operations.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance activities are completed within stipulated timelines.
Inspection & Fault Management
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections for all BRVs.
- Log and track all reported faults from drivers and operations teams.
- Monitor repair progress from fault reporting through to vehicle return-to-service.
Repairs & Service Provider Coordination
- Liaise with service providers to prioritize and expedite repairs.
- Monitor job progress to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion.
- Verify that all replaced parts meet OEM operational standards.
Spare Parts & Tyre Management
- Monitor tyre usage, rotation, and replacement schedules.
- Maintain and manage a database of critical spare parts.
- Define and track reorder levels to prevent stock-outs and downtime.
Cost Control & Compliance
- Prepare and present monthly maintenance cost reports against approved budgets.
- Recommend cost-efficiency initiatives without compromising safety or reliability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including those of the NPA, DVLA, and OEM requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Transport Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in fleet maintenance planning, preferably within the petroleum or energy sector.

Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, fuel haulage equipment, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems and ERP platforms.

- Ability to analyze maintenance data and prepare cost estimates.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
