Job Description

Position Summary

CDA Global Consult is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Health and Safety Officer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and industry best practices.

The ideal candidate will promote a strong safety culture, conduct regular risk assessments, provide safety training, investigate incidents, and ensure a safe working environment across all project sites and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

  • Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with national health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Promote a strong culture of workplace health and safety throughout the organization.
  • Monitor adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures on all project sites.

Risk Assessment & Compliance

  • Conduct routine workplace inspections, site audits, and safety assessments.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure effective implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain records of inspections, audits, corrective actions, and compliance activities.

Incident Investigation

  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare detailed incident investigation reports and recommend preventive actions.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accident and incident statistics for reporting purposes.

Safety Training & Awareness

  • Organize and facilitate health and safety induction programs for new employees.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns.
  • Train employees on emergency response procedures, hazard identification, and safe work practices.
  • Promote employee participation in health and safety initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Coordinate emergency drills, fire safety exercises, and first aid preparedness.
  • Ensure emergency equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.
  • Liaise with emergency response agencies when required.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly health and safety reports.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, permits, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor safety performance indicators and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all required safety documentation is properly filed and readily available.

Environmental Management

  • Support environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Promote environmentally sustainable work practices.
  • Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental protection activities where applicable.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other health, safety, environmental, and compliance-related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following or a related discipline:
    • Construction Management
    • Civil Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Environmental Science
    • Occupational Health & Safety
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Or another relevant field.

Professional Certifications

Applicants must possess:

  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)

Additional certifications such as the following will be an advantage:

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor
  • First Aid Certification
  • Fire Safety Training
  • OSHA Certification
  • Environmental Management Certifications

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Health and Safety Officer, HSE Officer, Safety Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Experience within the construction, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, or industrial sectors is highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
