Job Description

The Finance Officer will assist in timely recording of financial transactions, high-quality reconciliations, reliable financial reporting, and compliance with financial policies, particularly for donor-funded projects. This role may require out of station travels as and when the need arises to support programs implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and record daily financial transactions, including Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R).

• Coordinate payroll documentation and support the payroll cycle in collaboration with HR

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations, petty cash reconciliations, and project budget reconciliations.

• Maintain supporting documentation and ensure proper filing and audit trails for all financial transactions.

• Assist in preparing annual and project-specific budgets in coordination with Finance Manager and Program Teams.

• Track program and grant expenditure reporting, ensuring strict adherence to approved budget lines and donor agreements.

• Monitor burn rates and flag potential budget variances proactively

• Track and report program vehicle and fuel usage and ensure compliance with internal and donor policies

• Assist in preparing donor-specific financial reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with donor formats.

• Maintain a clear schedule of grant reporting deadlines and ensure finance inputs are provided on time

• Ensure adherence to internal finance policies, procurement guidelines, and authorization limits.

• Support compliance with Ghanaian statutory requirements (Tax, Pensions, and other regulatory filings).

• Maintain strong internal controls to reduce fraud risk and improve audit readiness

• Prepare documentation, schedules, and reconciliations required for external audits

• Assist in auditor and donor compliance reviews

• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Finance and Operations Manager

Qualification and Skills

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (mandatory)

• ICA, CIMA, ACCA, part or full qualification will be an added advantage

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting and financial management in nonprofit organizations, social mission organizations or consulting firms handling donor-funded programs.

• Experience preparing donor financial reports (preferably for large institutional donors)

• Proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP Software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics or SAP

• Familiarity with fund accounting and donor reporting guidelines.

• Promote a strong team environment by contributing ideas and supporting other teams

• High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities

• Fluency in English Language, and local Ghanaian Languages/dialects.
