Africa Albinism Network (AAN) is a pan-African organization dedicated to promoting the rights, dignity, protection, and well-being of persons with albinism across Africa. The organization focuses on human rights advocacy, research, capacity building, and strengthening local albinism organizations and human rights defenders to advance inclusion, protection, and empowerment.
As a growing organization operating across multiple African countries and donor-funded programs, AAN offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance and operations professional to contribute meaningfully to social impact and organizational growth.
Position Summary
AAN is seeking a highly experienced, analytical, and strategic professional to serve as Finance and Operations Senior Manager. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in overseeing the organization’s financial management, operational systems, compliance, grant administration, and human resources coordination.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in nonprofit financial management, budgeting, compliance, and operational leadership, while also being comfortable working in a dynamic and resource-conscious environment. The role requires a proactive individual with exceptional integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational execution.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee the organization’s accounting systems, bookkeeping, banking activities, and financial records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, expense reporting, and financial transactions.
- Ensure timely and accurate accounting entries and financial reconciliations.
- Maintain effective internal controls and financial management systems.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Conduct financial reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial performance reviews.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support organizational decision-making.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor organizational budgets.
- Develop financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and reserve strategies.
- Monitor budget utilization and advise management on financial sustainability and planning.
Compliance & Audit Management
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, donor regulations, and applicable legal requirements.
- Coordinate and manage annual external audits and statutory reporting processes.
- Strengthen financial controls, risk management systems, and compliance frameworks.
Operations Management
- Oversee operational systems, policies, and organizational processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage procurement oversight, logistics coordination, vendor relationships, contracts administration, and office operations.
- Support IT security, data backup systems, and operational risk mitigation measures.
Human Resources Coordination
- Oversee HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, training, policy administration, compliance, and employee separation processes.
- Coordinate and supervise external HR consultants and service providers where necessary.
Grant & Donor Management
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and grant agreements.
- Track restricted and unrestricted funding allocations and expenditures.
- Prepare grant budgets, financial reports, and donor financial submissions.
- Collaborate with program teams on grant implementation and reporting.
Board & Committee Support
- Prepare financial and operational reports for the Finance & Administration Oversight Committee (FAOC) and Board of Directors.
- Participate in Board and committee meetings to provide management support and financial guidance.
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise the Procurement, Logistics, and Administration Manager.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to team members and service providers.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced/Postgraduate qualification and professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in financial management within a senior leadership role, preferably in the NGO or nonprofit sector.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit and fund accounting, including IFRS and donor compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in budgeting, financial planning, grant management, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing operational systems, internal controls, and organizational processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and collaboration tools including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Experience working within small or growing organizations with limited resources and multitasking environments.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following will be considered an added advantage:
- Experience in human rights advocacy, policy, or social justice initiatives
- Experience working across Africa or within international organizations
- Experience working with disability rights organizations or human rights institutions
- Knowledge of French or other African languages
- Familiarity with regional human rights mechanisms and nonprofit governance structures
Work Schedule
This is a full-time role requiring approximately 40 hours per week. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to coordinate effectively across multiple time zones.
Remuneration
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
