As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a skilled, dedicated, and safety-conscious Electrical Technician to join our technical team and support the installation, maintenance, and servicing of electrical and fire safety systems.
Position Summary
The Electrical Technician will be responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and fire safety systems, including fire alarm systems, emergency lighting systems, and related equipment.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to service and maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, configure, test, and commission fire alarm systems and associated control panels.
- Install emergency lighting systems, backup power units, and other electrical safety equipment.
- Assist in the implementation of fire detection, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
- Ensure installations are completed according to project specifications, technical drawings, and industry standards.
Maintenance & Servicing
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and servicing of electrical and fire safety systems.
- Ensure all equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
- Maintain service schedules and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Perform upgrades, replacements, and modifications to existing systems when required.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, system malfunctions, and equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot fire alarm systems, control panels, emergency lighting systems, and related electrical installations.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and service calls.
- Recommend corrective actions and system improvements where necessary.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all installations and maintenance activities comply with:
- Electrical Safety Standards
- Fire Safety Regulations
- Occupational Health and Safety Requirements
- Company Policies and Procedures
- Promote safe work practices and maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Report safety concerns, defects, and non-compliance issues promptly.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, and maintenance logs.
- Document completed work, materials used, and recommendations for future action.
- Update technical records and ensure proper filing of project documentation.
Project Support
- Work closely with Engineers, Project Managers, Safety Officers, and other technical personnel during installations and maintenance projects.
- Assist in project planning, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Provide technical support and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
- Diploma, NVTI Certificate, or equivalent qualification in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical Installation
- Electromechanical Engineering
- Or a related technical field
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of practical experience in:
- Electrical Installation and Maintenance
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Fire Safety Equipment
- Building Electrical Systems
Experience within the fire protection or safety industry will be an added advantage.
