General Description

The Director of Finance provides strategic financial leadership and serves as the chief financial advisor to the Vice-Chancellor. The role encompasses oversight of all financial operations, ensuring the integrity, stability, stability and sustainability of the University’s financial resources

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Strategic and financial leadership
• Budget Development & Management
• Financial reporting, control & compliance
• Management Accounting & Performance Evaluation
• Treasury, Payroll & Stores management
• Technology, systems & process enhancement
• Stakeholder engagement & leadership

Qualification Required & Experience

• Minimum Academic and professional requirements
• A master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
• Mandatory professional certification ACCA, CIMA, CPA or ICA
• A minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, with progressively responsible senior management roles in finance and administration preferably in a large, complex organization
• Experience within a multi-campus university system will be an advantage

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Strong expertise in financial, accounting and service management systems
• Proficiency in the use f modern accounting software packages
• Knowledge of resource allocation models, revenue enhancement strategies and financial planning tools
• Ability to participate actively in planning and major policy decisions at the institutional level
• Familiarity with the regulatory environment for tertiary institutions and fund management or demonstrable ability to acquire such knowledge quickly
