Conditions of Employment
. Work schedule: 32 hours per week, four-day week (flexible Monday to Friday).
. Location: Office-based in East Legon, Accra.
. Contract type: Three-year contract with six-month probationary period
. Reporting: Reporting to the OAfrica Global CEO, ensuring compliance with standard corporate governance obligations in Ghana.
The Country Lead of OAfrica Ghana (CL GH) provides executive leadership and organizational management and is ultimately responsible for the impact and performance of the organization. The CL GH oversees day-to- day operations and manages the team, ensuring effective use of resources and budget management. The CL
GH supports the development and implementation of the strategic plan, and represents OAfrica publicly as an ambassador and spokesperson.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management
- Ensure monitoring and the proper implementation of grant’s activities defined in the project documentation, reporting any changes to timeline, activity and budget.
- Create the necessary documentation for activities, indicators and monitoring in the phases of implementation and evaluation (internal and external).
- Oversee donor requirements, eligibility, rules, regulations, and deadlines; and communicate risks or concems promptly.
- Monitor grant payment schedules and income and ensure the correct implementation of all administrative procedures by working closely with the finance manager and Global CEO.
- Ensure all documentation required is available by maintaining high standard information management/filing systems (google drive).
- Provide grant reports ensuring consistency between narrative and financial reports and that they meet quality standards,
- Contribute to the development and revision of grant proposals, budgets, and the identification of the project team.
External Relations and Communications
- Effectively represent the organization and promote a positive organizational image to ensure adequate community representation through relations with authorities, partners and stakeholders (UNICEF/DSW/OVC committee/GH5/GES/other NGDs, Government of Ghana etc).
- Represent the organization and serve as chief spokesperson publicly at events, conferences, and partnership meetings. Organise donor and international board/staff hospitality as and when needed.
Development and Fundraising
Manage and motivate staff and collaborators, overseeing processes such as hiring, separation, ongoing
staff and collaborators development, performance management, and compensation and benefits.
Board Support
Build strong relationships with the Board, providing members with all information necessary to
continually function properly and make informed decisions in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist the board as needed and when invited, to build consensus, remind of outstanding deliverables,
and offer support.
Financial Management
- Maintain financial stability and sustainability, including cash flow, budget administration, and statutory compliance.
- Build and present the annual budget, before the 1″ of October, to the Global CEO and Board.
- Oversee the financial manager to prepare the audit in a timely manner before the end of March each year.
- Manage the finance manager to ensure all financial activities comply with budget guidelines and legal requirements, including monitoring budget usage, depreciation, and exchange rate fluctuations, approving financial requests, administering monthly financial calls, and optimizing resource utilization and financial positioning.
PROFILE REQUIRED:
Required skills and qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Support development and fundraising in collaboration with the Global CEO, leveraging the local Board as needed, and ensuring OAfrica’s mission and projects are consistently presented positively to stakeholders.
- Initiate, cultivate, and extend relationships with local individual, foundation, and corporate supporters, including distribution of the Annual Report or other reports as needed.
- Ensure high visibility to prospects and the public, and build interest in engaged philanthropy, and opportunities to create or participate in appropriate fundraising events or mobilizations.
- Knowledge of Project Cycle Management.
- Proven ability to rally different internal and external stakeholders around an inspiring vision,
- Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking.
- Evidenced ability to influence externally through vision, political skill and networking.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of governance and accountability and familiarity with legal and compliance matters.
- Experience in project planning and delivery in line with donor requirements.
- Proven experience working in multicultural and diverse contexts.
- Understanding of intersectionality of our beneficiaries’ needs and its relevance to OAfrica values (EDI).
- Financial experience at the top management level and practical understanding of donor accountability.
- Digital and technology knowledge.
