The Organisation

Beyond Beans develops and implements projects across ETG’s commodity supply chains in collaboration with partner companies, NGOs and government agencies. The Foundation’s operational team consists of a multidisciplinary team of managers and field staff with experience in community development, certification, agroforestry and climate-smart solutions.

Beyond Beans has a strong upcountry presence with offices in Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Togo and more than 500 field staff working in key cashew, cocoa, and coffee regions. We support more than 100,000 rural farmer households with training on agroforestry and regenerative agriculture, and the provision of seedlings, and cash premiums.

The Job

We are looking for a community development supervisor to coordinate the implementation of our projects in Ghana.

Reporting directly to the Project manager, the supervisor oversees field teams, ensures effective delivery of monitoring and remediation interventions, strengthen community engagement and coordinate with key stakeholders.

In this role you will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with child protection standards, improving data quality, and reporting, whilst driving sustainable impact across all community development interventions in cocoa-growing communities.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. The community development supervisor will be responsible for but not limited to:
  2. Coordinating the Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) field teams to ensure timely and appropriate execution of data collection at household and farm level whilst advising and following up on remediation activities.
  3. Continuous collaboration with the data and research officer in reviewing data quality whilst liaising with the field team to rectify any errors or inconsistencies to ensure data quality.
  4. Ensure regular reporting to the project manager on progress of work against targets and prepare technical reports.
  5. Proactively Monitor KPIs and work towards their improvement to meet project outcomes.
  6. Coordination of any other community development projects, including Village Savings and Loans (VSLAs), Community Needs Assessments (CNAs), Community Action Plans (CAPs) and Income Generating Activities (IGAs).
  7. Providing ongoing technical support to field team, ensuring they meet their targets on time whilst ensuring data quality.
The Team

You will be working in our dynamic sustainability team that is spread over the Netherlands (Amstelveen), West Africa (Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Togo), and Ecuador. In Côte d’ivoire, you will be working with field staff and team at our office in Abidjan. Internationally, you will be in contact with our head office team in Amstelveen as well as other origin teams to collaborate and exchange knowledge.

Qualities We Are Looking For
  • University degree in Development Planning/Studies, Social Sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in community development specifically data collection and child labour monitoring.
  • Experience in managing field teams with the ability to provide leadership and work in a team.
  • Passion and commitment to tackling child labour in the cocoa sector.
  • Ability & interest to work with farmers in cocoa growing communities and field teams of partner organisations.
  • Excellent skills in using Excel for data management and analysis.
  • Skilled in mobile applications and digital survey tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in general agriculture and cocoa farming are a plus.
  • Training, communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
