Job Description
To support the engineering team in maintaining and operating farm machinery, irrigation systems, and infrastructure, ensuring efficiency, safety, and minimal downtime in all agricultural operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In order of importance, the key activities and responsibilities include:
- Assist with installation, inspection, servicing, and repair of farm machinery and mechanical systems.
- Help maintain irrigation systems including pumps, pipes, channels, and valves.
- Carry out regular preventive maintenance on tractors, planters, harvesters, sprayers, and generators.
- Provide technical assistance during field operations such as ploughing, planting, spraying, and harvesting.
- Identify and report mechanical issues or system faults to the Agricultural Engineer or Supervisor.
- Assist in fabrication, welding, or basic construction of farm structures like sheds, drying platforms, or storage areas.
- Maintain maintenance logs and records of repairs, servicing, and parts replaced.
- Observe and apply safety procedures in all engineering and mechanical operations.
- Work collaboratively with farm supervisors and machine operators during joint operations.
- Participate in training sessions and adopt new technologies or procedures introduced by the engineering unit.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Agricultural Engineer or Farm Manager.
