Purpose of the Role
The Media Planning Manager is the custodian of the media budget and the architect of brand visibility
across paid, owned, and earned media at Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc.
Operating within Ghana’s evolving media landscape, where traditional channels such as television
continue to influence brand preference while younger audiences migrate to new platforms, the role
balances proven media fundamentals with innovation. The position is anchored in a philosophy of
Creativity with Precision, requiring a deep understanding of consumer behavior, the path to purchase, and
the ability to translate insights into effective, measurable media investments.
The role provides leadership over the integrated media planning agenda and plays an active role in driving
business performance through disciplined, insight-led media strategy.
Key Accountabilities
- Own the preparation, execution, and evaluation of integrated media strategies across Television,
Radio, Out-of-Home (OOH), Digital OOH, Print, and Digital channels. - Translate brand and business objectives into multi-channel media plans that optimize reach,
frequency, and resonance while balancing short-term activation and long-term brand equity goals. - Identify the most effective platforms and touchpoints to engage priority audiences based on
consumer, shopper, and media insights. - Act as the primary steward of media agency relationships, managing day-to-day engagement and
ensuring delivery against agreed objectives. - Oversee the media buying process, including rate negotiations, placement optimization, and
spend efficiency to maximize return on investment. - Leverage media measurement tools and data sources, including IPSOS, to optimize channel
selection, refine media mix, and improve campaign effectiveness. - Extract actionable insights from media performance data to inform future planning and continuous
improvement of media strategies. - Manage the annual media budget, including purchase authorizations, reconciliation processes,
and budget control reporting. - Ensure all media campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with approved
investment plans. - Ensure full compliance with Guinness Ghana Breweries Plc Marketing Code and the 70% adult
audience threshold. - Jointly manage the FDA approval process with brand teams, ensuring all media creatives are
approved and carry the required authorization numbers prior to placement.
Key Requirements – Qualifications, Experience, Skills etc.: - Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Statistics, Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of six years’ experience in media planning or buying, ideally within FMCG or a top-tier
media agency environment. - Strong understanding of integrated media planning across traditional and emerging channels.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex media and performance data and translate insights into
effective investment decisions. - Proven experience managing media budgets with strong financial discipline and accountability.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Strategic mindset combined with executional rigor and attention to detail
