| Implementation of Company HES and Security Policies to Ensure Safe Work Environment Lead by example to promote and enforce WAPCo’s Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) policies and security standards within the Gas Control Center and associated operations. Participate in and oversee safety awareness programs, training, and emergency drills. Rapidly respond and coordinate team actions to pipeline leaks, line failures, or other emergencies to protect personnel and assets and also lead team members in supporting hypothetical drills. Manage gas analysis contracts on behalf of contract holder, as contract holder representative. Participate in the review and testing of BCPs and provide needed support. |
| Gas Control Supervise day to day activities of Gas Controllers at the Control Center in Accra. Develop, obtain approval and implement and monitor employee work schedule to ensure adequate coverage of Control Center Provide technical oversight and guidance to Gas Control operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient system performance. Maintain an in-depth understanding of WAPCo’s Gas Allocation and Attribution Principles, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Provide monthly gas system updates to be included in the Monthly Management Report (MMR). Track, analyze, and provide regular updates on the GMO’s KPIs to support effective performance monitoring. Prepare accurate reports and performance dashboards for the Operations Division, ensuring proper collation, validation, and interpretation of data from all Operation departments. Operations Manage 24/7 real-time gas control operations across the WAGP system using SCADA platforms for continuous monitoring and control of gas flows, pressures, and quality. Approve and execute operational decisions including start-ups, shutdowns, curtailments, and emergency response activities. Coordinate daily nominations, allocation, line-pack control, and flow adjustments with multi-jurisdictional stakeholders. |
| Management Reporting, Governance & External Presentations Design and maintain strategic templates and tools that support business objectives and enhance operational performance. Collaborate with Heads of Departments to develop structured annual budgets and monitor budget performance to ensure alignment with Operation Division’s strategic objectives. Manage activities related to strategic and tactical planning, ensuring effective implementation of planning controls across the Operations Division. Liaise with other managers to prepare TechCom (Technical Committee) presentations to shareholders, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and alignment across departments. Prepare and submit biannual Operations Updates for WAGPA, consolidating contributions from all Operations-related departments |
| Cross-Functional Operations Coordination Engage Heads of Departments to align and track progress on Annual Work Plans toward achieving the overall business objectives of the GMO. Serve as a technical liaison between Operations, Projects, Asset Integrity, Finance, SCADA/IT, and HES teams. Track and report on progress of Station Anomalies (action items) for quarterly leadership reviews. Promote alignment and standardization of operational processes between West and East regions. Assist Operations and Maintenance Superintendents (West & East) in tracking Intelex action items, audit recommendations, and regulatory compliance actions. Work with O&M West and East Teams to track and plan contract renewals, extensions, and close-outs. Support track and report on operational initiatives, improvement actions, and project progress for the GMO Collate, analyse and operations reports (and ad-hoc reports) and disseminate to internal and external stakeholders; follow-up on action items and escalate areas requiring the GMO’s intervention Prepare and/or review GMO’s papers and presentations |
People Management
This role will be responsible for supervising all Gas Controllers located at the control center, headquarters. You will have work responsibility both at the Control Centre-Headquarters and provide Technical Advisory duties at the office of the General Manager-Operations.
This role will be responsible for administering the Performance Planning & Review Process (PPRP) for the direct report with frequent regular engagements throughout the year based on the below principals. You will provide feedback to the O&M west on the performance of the individuals reporting to you and seek the support as needed in growing the capabilities of the individuals/team to meet business objectives. You will also guide and monitor your team to stay in compliance with WAPCo policy and laws and if you observe any violations, to promptly report them to your manager to align on necessary steps to address the concerns.

Working Experience and Academic/Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Petroleum, or a related discipline). Master’s degree in relevant field is an added advantage. Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in gas pipeline operations, with a demonstrable supervisory or managerial capacity within a 24/7 control center environment.
