Geny Labs Inc. is building Geny, a voice-powered AI assistant designed to help skilled service entrepreneurs (beauty, wellness, culinary, home services, and more) run their businesses with ease. To make this possible, we are building a multilingual, accent-aware voice dataset across our key markets — starting in Ghana.
We are seeking a Data Operations Analyst (Contract) to support voice data collection in Ghana. This role requires a blend of fieldwork, social intelligence, and technical competency. You’ll be responsible for working directly with skilled service business owners (salons, barbers, spas, tailors, etc.), recording and managing their voice samples, and ensuring clean, well-documented data flows into our training pipeline.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be out in the field most of the time, engaging with people, capturing recordings, and handling operational details with precision.
Key Responsibilities
Field Engagement & Data Collection
– Visit skilled service businesses (salons, spas, barbershops, tailoring shops, etc.) to collect voice recordings in natural work settings.
– Build rapport with business owners and staff to encourage authentic participation.
– Ensure proper consent and adherence to data-collection protocols.
Data Management
– Upload, organize, and annotate collected audio recordings.
– Ensure metadata accuracy (location, language/dialect, context, consent status).
– Flag and resolve quality issues (background noise, incomplete recordings, missing labels).
Operational Support
– Coordinate field schedules, logistics, and reporting for daily/weekly collection targets.
– Support technical troubleshooting of recording devices/apps in the field.
– Provide feedback to the engineering and product teams on data quality and field operation
Requirements
Education/Experience
– Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data/Information Systems, Statistics, Linguistics, or related fields.
– Prior experience in data collection, field research, or operations coordination preferred.
Skills & Competencies – Sociable & Empathetic: Able to engage easily with entrepreneurs, build trust, and explain technical processes simply.
– Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills for handling large amounts of recordings and metadata. – Intermediate Technical Competence: Comfortable using mobile apps, data entry tools, and troubleshooting devices. – Analytical Mindset: Ability to identify data inconsistencies and propose improvements. – Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic field environments; quick problem-solver.
Other Requirements
– Based in Ghana, with availability to travel across key cities (Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, etc.).
– Access to a laptop and smartphone with reliable internet.
– Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages (Twi, Ewe, Ga, Hausa, etc.) is a plus.
Contract Details
– Duration: 3–6 months (with possibility of extension). – Compensation: Competitive, based on experience. Includes allowances for travel and field expenses. – Start Date: Immediate.
