Finance Officer – Apex Health Insurance Limited

Job Description

Apex Health Insurance Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Officer to support the effective management of the company’s financial operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting, sound financial controls, timely reconciliations, statutory compliance, and efficient management of the company’s financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and ensure all financial transactions are properly captured in the accounting system.

* Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, payment preparation, and follow-up on outstanding balances.

Perform regular bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations, and promptly investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare and review financial schedules, journals, trial balances, and supporting documentation.

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts.

Monitor cash flow and support effective cash management and financial planning.

Ensure proper documentation, filing, and maintenance of financial records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Support the preparation and submission of statutory returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax and regulatory obligations.

Provide relevant financial information and documentation to support internal and external audits.

Monitor financial controls and identify potential gaps, irregularities, or areas of financial risk, escalating issues where necessary.

Support the Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other finance-related assignments.

Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity in the handling of financial and company information.

Qualifications & Requirements

2 years post-qualification experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

Must be a Chartered Accountant or a student member of a recognized professional accounting body (final level), such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) or ACCA. 

GeographicReference

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, taxation, and financial controls.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work with financial data and reports.

Experience using accounting software or ERP systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.

High level of accuracy, attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.

Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
