About the Opportunity

Ashfoam, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking two experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Officers to join its Finance & Accounts team in Accra.

The successful candidates will play an important role in supporting the company’s day-to-day financial operations, including transaction processing, inventory accounting, accounts payable and receivable, cost control, bank reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial reporting.

This opportunity is ideal for accounting professionals who understand the relationship between manufacturing operations and financial management and can ensure that production costs, inventory movements, supplier payments, and financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly controlled.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory and Manufacturing Accounting

  • Monitor and record the movement of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Assist with inventory accounting and the reconciliation of stock movements.
  • Participate in periodic physical stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Reconcile physical inventory balances with records maintained in the Tally ERP system.
  • Support the analysis of the cost of goods sold and manufacturing variances.
  • Assist in monitoring production-related costs and identifying variances requiring management attention.

Accounts Payable and Supplier Management

  • Process and verify supplier invoices using a proper three-way matching process involving:
    • Purchase Orders
    • Goods Received/Receiving Reports
    • Supplier Invoices
  • Ensure that invoices are properly authorized and accurately recorded.
  • Monitor supplier balances and support the preparation of weekly payment schedules.
  • Assist with the resolution of supplier account discrepancies and queries.

Accounts Receivable and Financial Transactions

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Process and accurately record daily financial transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other accounting adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.

Reconciliations and Financial Reporting

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate unusual or unreconciled items.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support the preparation of management reports and financial analysis.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist with the preparation and timely filing of VAT returns.
  • Support withholding tax and payroll-related statutory deductions and filings.
  • Maintain proper documentation to support tax and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure that accounting processes are carried out in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

Audit and Internal Controls

  • Support internal and external audit exercises by providing accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Identify control weaknesses and assist in implementing improvements.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mandatory proficiency in Tally ERP software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
    • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
    • Pivot Tables
    • Data analysis and reconciliation
  • Part qualification in or current pursuit of ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly preferred.
