As a Food Scientist, you will play a key role in ensuring product safety, quality compliance, research and development, and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the organization’s growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Innovation
- Conduct research and development activities to create new food products and improve existing formulations.
- Develop innovative products that align with consumer trends, market demands, and business objectives.
- Perform product testing, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life studies.
- Collaborate with production teams to scale up new product formulations from laboratory to commercial production.
- Identify opportunities for product enhancement, cost optimization, and process improvement.
Food Safety & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
- Develop and implement quality assurance procedures and food safety protocols.
- Monitor product quality throughout the production process and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and quality assessments to ensure adherence to industry standards.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of HACCP, GMP, ISO, and other food safety management systems.
Research & Analysis
- Analyze raw materials, ingredients, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Conduct laboratory testing and interpret results to support product development and quality control.
- Investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformance reports, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of testing, research findings, and product development activities.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure products comply with local and international food regulations and labeling requirements.
- Stay updated on food industry regulations, scientific advancements, and emerging trends.
- Assist with product registration, certification, and regulatory documentation where required.
- Support internal and external audits and inspections.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with production, procurement, marketing, and operations teams to achieve product and quality objectives.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical guidance and support to relevant departments on food science and quality-related matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, food safety, or product development.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality management systems, and food production processes.
- Experience working with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or related standards will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and food analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data reporting tools.
