Job Description
Position Title: Senior Internal Control Manager
Reports to: Chief Internal Control Officer
Location: Head Office, Accra
Role Purpose: Provide enterprise-wide assurance on the design, implementation, and effectiveness of internal controls in alignment with the COSO Internal Control Framework. Lead the Bank’s internal control function to strengthen governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, digital control environments, and ethical culture. Serve as a strategic partner to Executive Management and the Board in embedding a proactive, risk-aware control culture across all business and technology processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Strengthen and oversee the Bank’s internal control framework across business and technology functions
- Lead risk-based control reviews across branches, departments, and digital platforms
- Drive effective implementation of preventive, detective, and corrective controls
- Oversee IT General Controls (ITGC), operational controls, and control monitoring frameworks
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Information Security, and Audit teams to ensure integrated risk management
- Monitor remediation of control gaps and escalate material deficiencies
- Promote strong control awareness and ownership across the Bank
- Provide timely reporting on control effectiveness to Management and Board Committees
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Effectiveness and maturity of the Bank’s internal control framework
- Reduction in material control gaps, repeat findings, and operational losses
- Timeliness and effectiveness of remediation of identified control issues
- Completion rate of the risk-based control review plan
- Effectiveness of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and digital control environment
- Strength of fraud prevention and control monitoring mechanisms
- Improvement in control awareness and ownership across the Bank
- Quality and timeliness of reporting to Management and Board Committees
- Regulatory, audit, and compliance assessment outcomes
- Stakeholder satisfaction levels (Board, Executive Management, Regulators, and Auditors)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in economics, Auditing, Accounting, Banking & Finance or any related field
- Minimum 10 years experience in banking, financial services, risk, audit, or control functions
- At least 5 years in leadership role overseeing enterprise-wide risk and control environment
- Experience with digital banking, IT controls, or data governance is an added advantage
